This is the photo shoot of my final garment. The concept of the shoot in a vintage store was to show the idea of the accumulative collection of items and garments, creates someones identity. I think that this works with the varied and different inspirations of the project.

This is my final design idea. The skirt will be made from velvet and will show the relaxed style of the 1990s grunge style, the top will be made from netting, with braiding, sequinned and beaded decoration, this will show the 1920s style of dress that I looked into in my research, also as it is made of netting the underwear underneath will be shown through the garment, I will create a slip type camisole to go underneath the top in the same colour, so it is subtle contrast. The colour palette will show the 1970s trend that I have looked at.

These pages show the further design development of my project, I mixed the 1920s fashion, the structure of the underwear as outerwear trend, the masculine clothes and shapes of the New York fashion and the looseness and layering of the 90s grunge. To create to an interestingly structured, decorated and designed outfit that shows my theme of Gender and Identity

On this pages I have started to look more a silhouette and mixing all the ideas from the research pages together. The classic silhouettes of the 1920s fashion, the structure of the underwear as outerwear trend, the masculine clothes and shapes of the New York fashion and the looseness and layering of the 90s grunge.

These were the pages that I showed in the Group Crit Session

On these pages I have started to look more a silhouette and mixing all the ideas from the research pages together. The classic silhouettes of the 1920s fashion, the structure of the underwear as outerwear trend, the masculine clothes and shapes of the New York fashion and the looseness and layering of the 90s grunge.

On these pages I looked into the 90s grunge, the idea of draping and layering to give the free of comfortable and worn clothing, I looked at the idea of ‘designer holes’ to give this feel as well as raw edges, making the clothes look like they are falling apart. I was just inspired by the imagery, I think that lends itself to the trend of the 90s grunge and I looked at the shapes of the clothes worn in the images and also looked into the idea of exposed seams or raw edges to give the feeling of worn clothing.

For these two pages and the one below I looked at 1970s New York, as inspired by Ann Demeulemeester, I looked at the fashion of Patti Smith, and the masculine clothes, shaping and silhouettes. I also looked at the fashion from the Woody Allen film Annie Hall, in which the character played by Diane Keaton wears masculine inspired clothing, such as waistcoat, shirts, ties and blazers, as well as more loose fitting trousers.

On these pages I looked further into the trend of underwear as outerwear, I think that the trend links to my theme of gender and identity as it shows of the fundamental clothing items for women, instead of hiding them to look more masculine showing them off and being proud of the things that give them a feminine silhouette. I also started to think about how this trend could relate to the theme of the 90s grunge that I looked at perviously, with the mix of fabrics, shape and structure that could be used.

On these pages I further researched 1920s fashion as I think that it relates to my theme of gender and identity. This is because in this time it was popular to maculate the look of women and their body shapes to give a more androgynous look. Also on this page I began to look at the idea of embellishment to give a more feminine look to a masculine outfit.
